Sue Chudley

Sue Chudley works in mixed-media sculpture and site-responsive installation, using recycled materials, domestic objects, projections, photographs, light or sound. From small, text based objects to large installations in the landscape, the pieces reference human presence and passage, pointing to issues of transience, frailty of environment and spirituality.

I walked in the brook from Millers Farm to Soudley, sometimes up to my chest in water, recording the sounds of my movement through the fast flowing water. I stayed in an artist's studio in the woods near Pirkkala as part of Pirkkala Sculpture 07. Allan Salo, a painter, had died 30 years before but his studio was as if he had never left. The film is an attempt to find him and is as much about his as any artist's life. We all live and work, hoping to make sense of the life we experience and to be remembered. The reality is maybe that there is no sense and that we are forgotten
